2013 San Jose City Hall Peregrine Falcon Naming Submissions
Thank you everyone, especially the talented and inspired students !
This year’s judges included reps from the Children’s Discovery Museum, Happy Hollow Foundation and Happy Hollow Park & Zoo, the former San Jose Peregrine Falcon Alliance, Santa Clara County Office of Education, as well as Sal Pizarro from the Mercury News and our own expert biologist, Glenn Stewart, of UC-Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group.
The judges had a daunting task, reducing the submissions to the final nine shown below. Every drawing and essay was highly valued and appreciated by all. There are many talented students in our San Jose Schools.
Our finalists are, in alphabetical order:
(please be patient while the images download)
- Comet (drawing)
- Flash (drawing)
- Freedom (drawing)

- Talon (A). (drawing) Two talented children submitted the name Talon, as such they were designated Talon A and Talon B for voting purposes. Talon A was nominated as a finalist.
Thank you for your help in naming our three tiercels ! And THANK YOU to the Office of Mayor Chuck Reed, the City of San Jose, and the UC Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group for jointly sponsoring this naming contest.
