"Godspeed and Fly Free our Little Orion - you will reside in our hearts forever more."  Thank you Jody, for beautifully expressing what is so hard to put in words.

Welcome to the wiki site for the San Jose City Hall Peregrine Falcons.

The City of San Jose and the Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group at UCSC, have formed a partnership bringing the Falcon Cam to the World Wide Web.  You can watch the pair raise their young at the SCPBRG website or you can visit the City of San Jose Falcon cam.  If you don't have time to watch the Falcon cam, or you read about scrape activity of interest on the discussion forum, you have a good chance of catching the screenshot on SCPBRG's photostream

If, on the off chance, you are not a member of the San Jose Peregrines Discussion Forum, you may join by emailing SanJosePeregrines-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

There is something about nesting Peregrines that seems to inspire a lot of creativity -- poems, articles, photographs, drawings, jewelry, links to other exciting cams that bird watchers enjoy -- and this wiki is to share all of those observations.

This wiki is open to observers of the family of our San Jose Peregrine Falcon matriarch, Clara, and her current mate, Fernando El Cohete.

The 2013 season is just beginning.  Clara and Fernando El Cohete have already been observed on the Falcon Cam, and their activity reported to the forum by devoted followers.

We invite you to join us for yet another year in the life of the San Jose Peregrines!

As a reminder, the cameras through which we observe the lives of these birds were installed new in February 2010.  This upgrade was made possible thanks to a successful fundraising by the now dissolved San Jose Peregrine Falcon Alliance, which raised $25,000 in combined monetary, equipment, software and labor contributions, from individual forum donors, as well as corporations, including but not limited to (strictly in alphabetical order):

  • Adobe Systems Incorporated
  • Data Display Audio Visual Co. L.P.
  • DiscoverVideo
  • Extron Electronics
  • Sony Electronics, Inc
  • The San Jose Peregrine Falcon Alliance
  • The University of California at Santa Cruz

There are not words sufficient to express the gratitude to all who made this happen.
